  • How did your character change throughout the story? Use examples from the text.

  • If you could be a character from your story who would you be and why?

  • Think about a decision a character made. Do you agree with their decision or would you have done something differently? Write what you have done.

  • Describe the setting of the story (where/when). How did this contribute or impact the story?

  • Reflect on the ending of the story. How did it make you feel? 

  • Create a comic strip or graphic novel of your book or a section of it.

  • After you’ve finished a fiction text imagine you’re in charge of writing the sequel. What would happen next? Think about characters, setting, and plot.

  • Describe a conflict in the book. How is it solved?

  • Would you recommend this book to other students?  Why or why not?

  • Would this book make a good movie?  Why or why not?

  • Are you making any connections with this book? Characters, setting, problems?  Describe your connections.

  • Why do you think the author chose the title of the book?  What other possible titles you would suggest?

  • Write a different ending to the story.

  • What are your thoughts/feelings about the author’s theme or message. 

  • Think about a part of the book that shows good writing (description, action, dialogue, etc). Give an example and tell why you chose it.

  • Write a book review of the story you read. ​
